Campaigning

Older people are the fastest growing age group in the UK and make an immense contribution to society and the economy. Age Concern Oxfordshire campaigns to ensure that their voices are heard when decisions affecting their lives are being made.

Campaigning can raise awareness, change policy and improve the lives of many thousands of older people. Our vision is of a society providing a fair deal for older people to lead happy, active and fulfilled lives, as independently as possible.

Our mission is to listen to the needs and aspirations of older people and to communicate with those in a position to shape policies and services, both locally and nationally.

Working with Age Concerns across the country, we campaign for the Government to improve the lives of the over 50s throughout the UK. You can help us by letting us know your views – taking part in local panels, forums and listening events and responding to surveys – and by contributing case studies and indicating whether you are willing to work with the media.

Older people are increasingly influential politically – 75% of people aged over 65 voted in the 2005 General Election. Together we can make a real difference.
