Volunteering with Age Concern Oxfordshire
Age Concern Oxfordshire could not exist without the help and support of our many volunteers – the services we run are all maintained by our 500 volunteers along with members of staff. All our volunteers are fully trained and are in regular contact with their supervisors.
Volunteering has shown to improve physical health, mental health, life satisfaction, social support and interaction, healthy behaviours and the ability to cope with one’s own illness.
For more information on any of these opportunities, please contact Amy Allen on 01235 849400 or e-mail amyallen@ageconcernoxon.org.uk
All of our volunteers will primarily go through a registration process which includes the request of two references and a Criminal Records Bureau check.
We have a varied selection of volunteering opportunities available. Please click on each service for more information.

Sole Mates
We offer a simple footcare service to help maintain and improve independence and mobility of older people in our community. This is not a medical service but a common sense approach to basic footcare and is provided by our trained volunteers who bathe and refresh tired and aching feet, trim toe nails and give a gentle foot massage. Working in various locations including community venues and private homes, you will receive training, insurance, support and out-of-pocket expenses.

Back to OpportunitiesFlexible Care
This award-winning service works to improve the lives of older people with mental health needs throughout Oxfordshire. The service supports people over 65 who may be suffering from a wide range of mental health problems, from depression to dementia. Trained volunteers regularly visit clients in their own homes. Our volunteers do not undertake any personal care, but befriend, give quality time, and encourage their client to engage in activities, which they enjoy.

Acting as a signpost they communicate, through notice boards, local newsletters, local organisations or wherever appropriate. Local Links need to be sensitive to the needs and difficulties faced by older people and be willing to refer requests for help and/or information promptly to our head office.
