The Place, White Lion Walk, Banbury
The Place is Age Concern Oxfordshire’s base in Cherwell – an office base for local staff and volunteers and a delivery point for many of our services. The Place is open Tuesday through to Friday – why not drop in for a tea or coffee and find out what is happening in Banbury and Cherwell?
The following services can be accessed either by ringing 01295 278040 or by dropping in:
- Information & Advice: help with queries on a huge range of issues of interest to people over 50, including help with form filling and advice on benefits
- Footcare Services: trained volunteers provide a basic nail cutting service for older people unable to reach or see to cut their nails safely.
- Phone Link and Befriending Service: regular contact for a friendly chat either by phone or in person for housebound, isolated people
- Insurance and other products: a range of products with the needs of the over 50s in mind
- Community Development: Our Community Development Officer works with older people and communities throughout Cherwell, supporting them in setting up new activities and opportunities to help people stay active, happy and healthy. Why not tell us your ideas and thoughts on what your community needs? Exercise? Tai Chi? Coffee and Activity sessions?
Older & Wiser Driver Awareness Classes
These are now being conducted by Oxfordshire County Council Road Safety Team & are designed for people who have held a licence for more than 20 years & may benefit from a refresher course. Contact Liam Hillis on 07748 333402.

Panels and Forums
Age Concern’s forums and panels offer an opportunity for older people to have a say and make a difference. They are an opportunity for people to share opinions on subjects that are important to them, learn about new services and developments, work with Age Concern to inform and influence policy makers, service providers and others.
