The Corner - East Oxford Community Centre, on the corner of Cowley Road and Princes Street
A weekly meeting place for everyone over 50 (friends and family also welcome) each Wednesday from 10am – 2pm. Delicious, freshly prepared food at very reasonable prices, served from 12.00-1.00pm every week. In addition to the weekly menu why not try an Asian meal on the 2nd Wednesday of each month and a Caribbean meal on the last Wednesday of the month?
Other activities and opportunities at the Corner include:
- Tai Chi: 10am – 11am (upstairs) plus ½ hour advanced class from 11am – 11:30
- Health Walk: 11-12pm starting from the Corner, approx 1 ½ miles.
- Gentle Exercise to Music: 11am-12pm
- Five Rhythms Dance: 11:45 – 12:45
All classes charge a small fee, but are free for the first taster session.
Also available weekly:
Information and Advice: come speak confidentially to our trained Information & Advice worker, who can cover a huge range of topics from housing to money to insurance – and who can give benefits checks on the last Wednesday of each month.
Speciality sessions include:
- art and crafts sessions
- computer training
- information days on a range of subjects plus much more

Age Concern Lunch Clubs and Day Centres
Day Centres offer a chance to meet people and enjoy a range of activities as well as providing a balancing meal.
The Milan Group at John Kallie Court – Tuesday 11.00-2.00pm. This is a lunch & social club for black and minority ethnic elders and friends.
Barton Lunch Club at Barton Neighbourhood Centre – Monday 11.00 -2.00pm

Panels and Forums
Age Concern’s forums and panels offer an opportunity for older people to have a say and make a difference. They are an opportunity for people to share opinions on subjects that are important to them, learn about new services and developments, work with Age Concern to inform and influence policy makers, service providers and others.
